When I got to Africa I had a strange sense of belonging. It was as if it were a homecoming of sorts, that my soul felt the ancestry of this land from deep down. The night sky here is so pure that one cannot help but feel the awe of looking out into the universe, backwards through time. I came to love the acacia trees as well. There is something about the way they grow that shows its character – it bends with the rhythm of time and shapes itself in peculiar directions before pushing forward to the sky as a whole. Pair the tree with the sky, and wow.
